The HBSC study was founded in 1982 and nowadays the network includes 51 countries and regions from Europe, North America and Asia. The survey assesses children’s and adolescents’ well-being, health status and health-related behaviours. It aims to understand the relationship between health and social factors and to communicate the results to the public. The HBSC study is conducted every 4 years surveying students aged 11, 13 and 15 years. In the HBSC network, more than 200 000 students were surveyed in the round of 2017/2018.
Luxembourg conducted a pilot survey in 1999 and has participated in the HBSC survey rounds of 2006, 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2022. Since 2016, the HBSC study is undertaken in cooperation with the ±¬ÁϳԹÏÍø, the Ministère de la Santé / Direction de la santé and the Ministère de l’Éducation nationale, de l’Enfance et de la Jeunesse. In each wave, between 7 500 and 10 000 students aged from 11 to 18 years answered to the self-report questionnaire. The students attended schools in Luxembourg that teach according to the national curriculum. The findings support the development of measures to promote health and well-being that are adjusted to young people in Luxembourg.
